ABDU SEKKOUM SENT SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MESSAGES TO TEENAGE GIRL IN ENFIELD

In August 2020, a man from Enfield was sentenced to prison after engaging in inappropriate and illegal communication with a minor. Abdul Sekkoum, who resides on Great Cambridge Road in Enfield, was found guilty of sending sexually explicit messages to a girl who was only 15 years old at the time.

His criminal history includes a prior intervention in 2018 when police issued him a Child Abduction Warning Notice (CAWN). This warning was issued due to concerns about his interactions with a girl who was then only 13 years old, in the Hertford area. The CAWN is a protective measure used by law enforcement and social services to prevent potential harm to children by restricting contact with adults who may pose a risk.

The conditions attached to the CAWN explicitly prohibited Sekkoum, then aged 21, from communicating with the girl in any form, whether directly or indirectly. It also barred him from allowing her to be in his company at his residence, any other location, or in his vehicle until she reached the age of 16. Despite these restrictions, Sekkoum’s actions later led to his arrest and conviction.

In March 2020, Sekkoum was released from prison after serving time for unrelated drug offenses. However, in May of the same year, authorities discovered sexually explicit messages on the phone of the girl, who was then 15. These messages included references to sexual activities that had allegedly taken place between them, raising serious concerns about his conduct.

Following these revelations, Sekkoum pleaded guilty to charges of sexual communication with a child and engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15. His actions were deemed a clear violation of the law and the protective measures previously imposed.

He was subsequently sentenced by Luton Crown Court to eight months in prison for his offenses. The case highlights ongoing issues related to safeguarding minors and the importance of strict enforcement of protective orders to prevent such misconduct.
