ENFIELD MAN ODOSA USIOBAIFO INVOLVED IN HEATHROW CHILD TRAFFICKING SCHEME TARGETING SUSSEX GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community and exposed the dark underbelly of child trafficking networks, Odosa Usiobaifo, a 36-year-old security guard from Enfield, was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of conspiring to traffic minors for sexual exploitation. The case unfolded at Isleworth Crown Court, where evidence revealed Usiobaifo’s direct involvement in a sinister operation targeting vulnerable young girls from foster care in Sussex.According to court proceedings, two Nigerian girls, aged 14 and 15, were lured away from their foster homes with the promise of a better life, only to be exploited for prostitution. The girls had been placed in local authority care but were later reported missing by their foster carers to Sussex police. It was during this investigation that authorities uncovered the disturbing truth: Usiobaifo had made contact with the girls and arranged to meet them at a predetermined location.
Once in contact, Usiobaifo facilitated their departure by providing them with false passports and tickets, enabling them to travel under the guise of being adults. The girls were then taken to Heathrow Airport, a known transit hub for international trafficking operations, where border officials intercepted them. The 14-year-old girl was refused entry into Spain and was subsequently returned to the UK, where she remains in foster care. The fate of the 15-year-old girl after passing through Heathrow remains unknown, raising serious concerns about her current situation.
Senior investigating officer Jonathan Bush from the UK Border Agency described the case as “a horrific example of young girls being plucked from care with the sole aim of prostitution.” The investigation uncovered that Usiobaifo was part of a larger, organized gang that used Heathrow Airport as a key transit point for smuggling children into Europe, highlighting the extensive and sophisticated nature of this criminal network. The sentencing underscores the seriousness with which authorities are tackling child trafficking and exploitation, aiming to dismantle these dangerous operations and protect vulnerable minors from such heinous crimes.
