MAN JAILED AFTER ADMITTING STALKING
A 36-year-old man named Aaron Thornton, from Dove Gardens in Derry, appeared before magistrates through a video link, facing several charges. He admitted to engaging in stalking, violating a non-molestation order, misusing communication networks, and assaulting another person.
The court was informed that Thornton had visited the victim's home and had communicated with her via multiple messages.
Judge Barney McElholm sentenced him to nine months in prison and also issued a restraining order that will last five years.
The judge specifically warned Thornton that the restraining order barred any contact with the woman, including social media interactions.
