MAN CONVICTED AFTER BRUTAL HOLIDAY ASSAULT ON PARTNER
A man was convicted after assaulting his partner violently while they were abroad attending a wedding in Cyprus.
The incident occurred in their hotel room after a minor argument, when Liam Curran launched a prolonged attack by punching her repeatedly as she was in bed.
Her injuries included a broken nose, two black eyes, a concussion, and extensive bruising.
The violence escalated further when Curran threatened to throw her from a fifth-floor balcony.
He also took her mobile phone, cutting her off in a foreign country so she could not reach her loved ones.
She remained in hospital and the police station for about 24 hours following the assault.
Bloodstains were found across the room, indicating the violence of the attack.
Despite attempts to dismiss the severity, her injuries required medical attention.
Curran was handed a sentence of three years, suspended, which has sparked debate about whether justice was adequately served considering the severity of his behavior.
