MAN STAMPED ON HIS PARTNER'S RIBS AND GRABBED HER BY THE BACK OF HER NECK
During their relationship, a man carried out three separate assaults on his partner, which involved stamping on her ribs and grabbing her by the neck.Aaron Harper, aged 38, admitted to all three charges and received an 18-month prison sentence for each, to be served concurrently.
A restraining order was also issued at Nottingham Crown Court, prohibiting him from contacting his former partner or visiting an address in Hucknall.
The woman had been in an intermittent romantic relationship with Harper for a decade, a period marked by verbal abuse and physical violence.
The first incident occurred late on January 21, 2013, when she turned on a light in the bedroom to find her insulin, as she is diabetic.
Prosecutor Alan Murphy stated: "The defendant didn't like being woken up by the light.
He charged towards her and struck her hard to the top of her shoulder with his clenched fist, causing her a lot of pain, and dragged her to the bedroom.
He pulled a mattress from the bed, hit her and kicked her and stamped on her ribs several times".
The victim was diagnosed with "probable broken ribs." The second assault took place on August 13, 2015, when Harper, from Town End Road, Draycott in Derbyshire, forcibly pushed her out of their home by grabbing her neck and shoving her.
The third incident occurred on November 22, 2019.
Harper grabbed her head with both hands, squeezed, and licked her face.
She mentioned that she needed to check her blood sugar and took her insulin, using that moment to send a message to a friend to call the police, leading to Harper’s arrest.
Her victim statement detailed the physical pain and emotional toll: "These attacks by Aaron have been physically painful.
The abuse I have endured has been incredibly mentally draining over the years." Defense lawyer Matthew Smith acknowledged that Harper admitted to his appalling conduct towards her.
