WARRINGTON TEEN WHO KILLED HIS MOTHER WITH A CLAW HAMMER SENTENCED
An 18-year-old named Frederico Canuzo from Warrington has received a court sentence after admitting to the manslaughter of his mother, outside her home.The fatal incident happened in August last year when Canuzo used a claw hammer to attack his mother, resulting in severe head injuries.
Despite paramedics’ attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The court heard that Canuzo pleaded guilty on the basis of diminished responsibility.
He has been detained under the Mental Health Act and will be kept in a secure hospital facility indefinitely.
The attack was brought to police notice by the victims husband, who was alerted through his doorbell video camera.
Police officers from Cheshire found Canuzo on a train bound for London shortly after the incident.
The investigation was led by Detective Inspector Eli Atkinson, who described the case as extremely traumatic and expressed hope that the proceedings would provide some closure for the victims family.
