YASSER KABIR FROM KEIGHLEY FACES SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENSES IN BRADFORD CROWN COURT

In a high-profile case that has shocked the community of Keighley and the surrounding areas, Yasser Kabir, aged 25, has been brought to trial at Bradford Crown Court on multiple serious charges related to sexual offenses involving minors. The proceedings have revealed disturbing details about his past convictions and alleged activities, painting a troubling picture of a man with a history of sexual misconduct.

According to court records, Kabir has previous convictions for sex attacks on two young girls, which adds a grave context to the current allegations. During the trial, he took the witness stand to deny accusations that he had forced a teenage girl into sexual acts in a disused car park. Kabir explained to the jury that he met the girl in the street in 2011 when she was only 13 years old, and their relationship was initially based on friendship and casual conversations.

He described their interactions, stating that they would walk and chat together until they reached a secluded spot behind Keighley Library. It was there, he claimed, that the girl undid his fly and performed a sex act on him. Kabir recounted that shortly after, she began cuddling and kissing him before saying she had to leave. Despite these claims, the court heard that the girl maintained contact with Kabir through Facebook and text messages over the following months, and they met on several more occasions.

One of these meetings allegedly took place in the underground car park of the old police station on Devonshire Street, where Kabir claimed they engaged in consensual sexual activity. He insisted that the girl was willing and had no objections, asserting that he did not groom or manipulate her. Kabir also stated that he kept his relationship with her secret from his close friends, including his best friend Sufyan Ziarab and his younger brother Tauqeer Hussain, neither of whom he knew had also been involved with the girl.

He further claimed that he never saw her in a school uniform and never asked her age, suggesting a lack of awareness about her true age at the time. The court was told that Kabir and his friends frequented the underground car park daily, which they referred to as the ‘cop shop’. They used the space for smoking cannabis, graffiti, and socializing. Kabir admitted to placing a sofa in the corner of the area to make his drug use more comfortable.

However, the case took a darker turn when the victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, testified that she was forced to have sex with multiple Asian men on that sofa against her will. The prosecution, led by Michelle Colborne QC, highlighted that Kabir already had a criminal record when he was arrested in 2012 for the rape of the same schoolgirl. She pointed out that Kabir had committed two other sex acts involving two different young girls, to which he responded that he had never committed them but had been found guilty.

The court heard that the victim was passed around among 14 males in Keighley between 2011 and 2012, with ages ranging from just under her own to 45 years old. The assaults took place at various locations, including the grounds of the New Jerusalem Church on Devonshire Street, the former police station car park, Cliffe Castle, Burgess Fields behind the library and Leisure Centre, Stockbridge Tunnel, and Dalton Lane. Additionally, a taxi driver named Mohammed Akram, aged 62, is accused of having sex with her in his cab after picking her up as a fare.

Yasser Kabir, of Belgrave Road, denies four counts of rape. Several other individuals, including Tauqeer Hussain, Nazir Khan, and others, have pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of rape, with allegations spanning from May 2011 to June 2012, and one incident dating back to early 2009 involving a 15-year-old victim. The trial continues as the court examines the evidence and testimonies in this disturbing case that has garnered significant attention in the Keighley community and beyond.
