KEIGHLEY MAN JAILED FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES
A MAN from Keighley has been jailed for sixteen-and-a-half years for historic sex offences, including rape.Abdul Aziz Razzaque, 48, of Victoria Road, was found guilty of multiple offences following a trial last August.
His brother, Abdul Haziz Razzaque, 47, of Spencer Street, Keighley, was convicted of other separate sex offences despite being found unfit at the same trial.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
Abdul Aziz Razzaque appeared before Bradford Crown Court via video link from HMP Leeds.
Prosecutor Gerald Hendron said the offending dated back to the 1990s and involved multiple complainants.
The court heard statements in which the victims spoke of rage, anger, trauma, pain, shame, guilt, feelings of worthlessness, irreparable damage, and suicide attempts.
One said: “My life has literally been hell.” Another said: “The impact of this has followed me every day.” The court heard that Razzaque was a man of previous good character.
Taking the rape as the lead offence, Her Honour Judge Kirstie Watson jailed Razzaque for 16 years and six months plus an extension of 12 months on licence.
In assessing risk, Judge Watson found Razzaque to be a dangerous offender.
He will have to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Protection Order in relation to children.
Razzaque did not react as he was sentenced.
From the public gallery, one of his victims shouted “thank you” to the judge.
