WOJCIECH LUBINSKI SENTENCED IN BALLYMENA FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN NORTHERN IRELAND
Wojciech Lubinski, a 39-year-old man from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, has been handed down a significant prison sentence following a domestic-related assault that took place in Ballymena last year.The incident, which resulted in serious injuries, led to Lubinski being convicted of grievous bodily harm aggravated by domestic abuse, as well as a separate domestic abuse offence.
The case was heard at Antrim Crown Court, where the judge sentenced Lubinski to a total of five and a half years in prison.
Of this sentence, Lubinski will serve three and a half years behind bars, with the remaining two years on licence, meaning he will be subject to supervision and conditions upon release.
The assault in question occurred in February 2023, and the court heard evidence that painted a disturbing picture of domestic violence that culminated in a violent attack.
The details of the incident, while not fully disclosed, were severe enough to warrant such a substantial sentence, reflecting the seriousness with which the court viewed the offence.
Detective Constable Simon Brown, who was involved in the investigation, publicly praised the victim for her bravery and resilience throughout the legal process.
He stated, “The victim has shown immense strength and commitment in supporting this case through the courts.” He described the ordeal as “particularly harrowing,” emphasizing the emotional and physical toll it must have taken on the victim.
Detective Brown also commended her for her determination to seek justice, noting that pursuing a case through the criminal justice system is a challenging and often traumatic experience.
Furthermore, Detective Constable Brown highlighted the police force’s ongoing commitment to supporting victims of domestic abuse.
He explained, “Domestic abuse is a terrifying and impactful crime, and very often, those who are being abused feel isolated, vulnerable, and frightened, unsure of where to turn.” He urged anyone experiencing similar situations to come forward and report their abuse, reassuring the public that help is available.
“It is vital that victims know there is support out there, and I would encourage anyone suffering domestic abuse to contact the police,” he said.
