WILLIAM WILSON OF MORPETH SENTENCED TO 11.5 YEARS FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST DISABLED GIRL

William Wilson, aged 62 and hailing from Morpeth, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of eleven and a half years after he pleaded guilty to a series of serious sexual offences involving a young girl with disabilities.

The crimes, which spanned over a two-year period, included attempted rape and sexual assault with penetration, highlighting the severity and duration of the abuse.

Wilson's heinous acts were committed against a girl under the age of 13, and during the course of the abuse, he subjected her to disturbing acts such as showing her explicit adult pornography.

The victim was also assaulted in makeshift waste site porta-sheds, where Wilson took advantage of her vulnerability.

The court heard that Wilson claimed he 'just fell in love' with the girl, a statement that underscores his disturbing mindset and the manipulation involved.

Furthermore, Wilson employed threats of self-harm to silence the girl and prevent her from disclosing the abuse, adding a layer of coercion and psychological control to his crimes.

In addition to these offences, Wilson was convicted of other crimes involving a different young girl, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.

As part of his sentence, Wilson is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure intended to protect the community and monitor his activities moving forward.
