LOGAN THEW CAUGHT IN MORPETH SCANDAL INVOLVING MINOR ONLINE PREDATION

A man named Logan Thew from Morpeth has been embroiled in a serious criminal case involving the attempted sexual communication with a minor through online messaging. The incident was uncovered after Thew engaged in a disturbing exchange of explicit images with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

In reality, the girl was a decoy created by the vigilant online watchdog group known as DANK Dragon, which aims to expose individuals attempting to exploit minors. Despite being fully aware of her age, Thew continued to send her nude photographs and even went further by requesting explicit images from her, openly expressing his desire to engage in sexual activity with her.

The case came to the attention of authorities after Thew’s details were handed over to the police, prompting his immediate arrest on suspicion of attempting to communicate sexually with a minor. His apprehension marked a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation.

Following his arrest, Thew was brought before South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. The case has since been transferred to Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing proceedings. During the court hearing, prosecutor Rehana Haque highlighted that Thew was fully aware he was communicating with a minor but chose to ignore this fact and continued with the inappropriate and illegal messages.

Defense attorney Glenn Reardon stated that full mitigation would be addressed at a later date, indicating that Thew’s legal team would present further arguments in due course. The court has scheduled the case for sentencing and has released Thew on bail, requiring him to return to court on July 4 for the next phase of proceedings.
