WILLIAM AND DANIEL MCCREADIE FROM JOHNSTONE INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SCANDAL

A father and son duo, William McCreadie and Daniel McCreadie, have been implicated in a serious criminal case involving the possession and storage of indecent images of children. The authorities acted after receiving concerns that prompted a police raid on their residence located on Elm Drive within Johnstone Castle.

William McCreadie, aged 63, and his son Daniel, aged 26, were both taken into custody and subsequently placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register, marking the beginning of a detailed investigation into their activities. During court proceedings, it was revealed that their illicit activities spanned over a three-year period, from April 2012 to November 2015. The investigation uncovered that they had downloaded and stored highly disturbing material, including obscene photographs and paedophilic content, on various discs stored within their home.

Officers discovered an ACER computer in Daniel McCreadie’s bedroom, which contained peer-to-peer file-sharing software. This device held a staggering total of 3,333 images, among which 18 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child exploitation material. The court reports also detailed the presence of images categorized as B and C, with 40 images falling into Category A, five into Category B, and one into Category C. The severity of the content was underscored by the fact that some images depicted children as young as one year old or females aged between 10 and 16 years old posing in sexually explicit manners.

Further evidence was gathered during the police search, which resulted in the seizure of 150 discs from William McCreadie’s bedroom. Of these, 31 discs contained indecent images of children, further confirming the extent of their illegal activities. The case was presented by David Dignan, a fiscal depute, who emphasized the disturbing nature of the images involved.

Both William and Daniel McCreadie pleaded guilty to charges related to the creation, possession, and distribution of these illicit images. During the court hearing, it was noted that William’s legal representation highlighted that he had no prior convictions, which could influence the sentencing. The court is now awaiting reports that will guide the judge in determining the appropriate punishment.

Currently, the two men are residing at a property on Sycamore Avenue in Johnstone Castle. Their re-sentencing hearing has been scheduled for later this month, where the full extent of their crimes and appropriate penalties will be addressed.
