DAVID PEACOCK FROM JOHNSTONE ESCAPES JAIL AFTER HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES SCANDAL IN SCOTLAND
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Johnstone, David Peacock, a 52-year-old man, narrowly avoided imprisonment after being found guilty of possessing and allowing the possession of extremely disturbing images depicting child abuse.The incident came to light during a court hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, where the severity of the case was laid bare.
It was revealed that Peacock had stored these heinous images in the living room of his home in Johnstone.
Police investigations uncovered two laptops containing graphic and sickening photographs of children as young as four years old being subjected to sexual abuse.
The court was told that these devices, a Samsung laptop and a second black laptop, held multiple images that depicted some of the most disturbing forms of child exploitation.
During the proceedings, the court heard that one of the most disturbing images showed a boy aged between six and eight performing a sex act on an adult male.
Another particularly distressing photograph depicted a young boy, estimated to be between four and six years old, lying naked on a bed with two men standing over him.
These images, which police cyber crime specialists examined, painted a horrifying picture of the abuse that Peacock had either taken or permitted to be taken.
Peacock was initially charged with taking or allowing the taking of indecent photographs of children on July 20, 2013, at his residence in Johnstone.
Despite the gravity of the evidence, he pleaded guilty to the charges.
At the sentencing hearing, the sheriff acknowledged the seriousness of the case but explained that Peacock’s sentence was heavily influenced by the guidelines established by the High Court for such offences.
Sheriff David Pender stated that, “If I follow the guidelines then he misses custody by a whisker,” emphasizing how close Peacock came to a jail sentence.
The sheriff further explained, “The High Court has passed down guidelines for offences of this type.
Considering the number of images involved, imprisonment would not be an appropriate disposal, but you very well could find yourself there if you fail to comply with this order.” Following the discovery, police raided Peacock’s home after receiving a tip-off that he was hoarding these horrific images.
At the time of the raid, Peacock was on holiday but later surrendered to authorities, reportedly stating, “I could have run away, but I’ve done the right thing.” As part of his sentence, Peacock was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for three years and will be under supervision by social workers for the same period.
His access to the internet will be strictly monitored, and he is explicitly banned from working with children.
The court’s decision was met with outrage from the public benches, with shouts of ‘beast’ echoing through the courtroom as the sentence was read out, reflecting the community’s disgust at his actions.
