SWANSEA MAN JAILED FOR HEADBUTTING EX AND DAMAGING PHONE
A man named William Kory Mayberry from Ozanam Court, Blaenymaes, Swansea, has been convicted of assaulting his ex-partner by headbutting her and smashing her phone amidst a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred in the presence of a one-year-old child.
Following the attack, William Mayberry issued threats to the victim and her family.
Despite denying the allegations during the trial, he was found guilty of five counts of assault by beating, one count of threatening to damage property, one count of threatening behaviour, and one count of criminal damage to property.
The court heard that at the time of the assault, Mayberry was out of prison on licence and was later recalled to custody until September 2026.
In 2019, Mayberry, then 19, was sentenced to a young offenders' institution after threatening and assaulting hospital staff at Morriston Hospital who were treating him for a suspected heart attack.
His previous conduct also included shouting abuse at staff, grabbing a nurse by the throat, spitting, attempting to bite and headbutt medical staff, and touching a matron's backside.
Mayberry was sentenced to 52 weeks in prison and will serve half of that term in custody before being released on licence.
He was ordered to pay £1,440 in compensation to his victim and is under a restraining order banning contact with her and her family for three years.
South Wales Police commented on the case, hoping that the victim and her family will find some comfort from the jail sentence and restraining order.
