MAN JAILED FOR HISTORIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE OFFENCES
A man has received a prison sentence exceeding nine years after being found guilty of multiple historical child sexual abuse charges spanning the 1980s.Nicholas Alexander Llewellyn Adams, aged 54 and residing on Rhondda Street in Swansea, was convicted of 10 offences that took place in the past following a trial.
He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, 20 March, to nine years and six months imprisonment.
The court was informed that Adams subjected the young victim to prolonged abuse over several years, beginning when the victim was less than 10 years old.
The charges involved repeated physical assaults and sexual acts that intensified over time, resulting in physical injuries and enduring psychological damage for the victim.
Jurors heard that the victim was too frightened to report the abuse during the time it occurred due to threats made by Adams.
A victim impact statement read aloud in court detailed the long-lasting effects of the abuse.
The survivor stated: “I will never know how different my life could have been if I hadn’t been subjected to the horrific sexual abuse I had to deal with as a child.
“When it first started, I was told not to tell anyone, or I would be in trouble.
I knew what happened wasn’t normal, but I knew I couldn’t tell anyone.
“I am finally glad this stage is over and I can close this horrendous chapter in my life.
I feel by attending court today this is the final chapter in my psychological trauma caused by that man in the dock.” Adams faced charges including five counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14 and five counts of buggery with a boy under 16, consistent with the terminology used at the time of the offences.
Additionally, he was ordered to comply with a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order valid for a decade.
