WILLIAM ALLISON COATBRIDGE SERIAL RAPIST SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN PRISON

In September 2022, William Allison, a man from Coatbridge, was handed a significant prison sentence of 14 years after being convicted of a series of heinous domestic crimes committed against three women. The sentencing took place at the High Court in Inverness, following a detailed trial that uncovered the extent of his brutal and controlling behavior.

Allison, aged 31 and a former bakery worker, was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape, assault, threatening or abusive behavior, and a pattern of abusive conduct spanning nearly a decade. The crimes against the women occurred at various addresses across Lanarkshire between 2010 and 2019. Due to ongoing court proceedings, Allison’s appearance remains undisclosed to the public.

The victims, who have chosen to speak out, expressed relief and a sense of justice following the conviction. One woman, who endured seven years of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse at Allison’s hands, described her life as being “changed forever.” She recounted a terrifying ordeal that included being raped after a pillow was forcibly placed over her face, as well as being kicked, choked, and subjected to plates of food being thrown at her in moments of rage.

Her account detailed the oppressive control Allison exerted over her life. He restricted her movements, prevented her from leaving the house, monitored her phone calls and messages, and took control of her finances, forcing her to beg for money. The emotional and physical toll was profound, leaving her feeling isolated and broken.

The first victim, who initially believed their relationship was “really good,” described how Allison’s demeanor changed drastically over time. She explained, “His whole attitude changed and he was vulgar and harsh when he spoke to me. The abuse was mental as well as physical and sexual. I was walking on eggshells because of his moods and personality changes.”

She also revealed that Allison’s controlling nature extended to her social life, as he monitored her social media accounts, called her derogatory names, and accused her of infidelity. These actions severely impacted her mental health, leading her to feel “really low” and causing her to lose many friends. Despite the trauma, she expressed hope for the future, stating, “I have lost the person I was but I am striving to become a better person.”

The court’s decision reflects the severity of Allison’s crimes and the impact on his victims. His conviction and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing domestic abuse and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
