2007: CLEANER JAILED OVER FONDLING DARES TO TEENAGERS
A 24-year-old man from Kidderminster pleaded guilty to encouraging two young teenagers to partake in sexual acts for his own satisfaction.Wayne Edgar was left alone with a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy after their families had gone out for a meal.
It was reported by prosecutor Francis Laird that Edgar had suggested a series of dares once the girl sat on the boy’s lap, prompting them to touch each other over their clothes.
The court was told that the children felt humiliated but were too frightened to refuse his requests.
Edgar, who resides on Chaffinch Drive in Spennells, admitted to three counts of causing a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Andrew Geddes sentenced him to eight months’ imprisonment and highlighted that the children had been distressed, with potential long-lasting psychological consequences.
He mandated that Edgar register as a sex offender for a decade.
The offences occurred on September 17, 2005.
The children eventually told their parents, who reported the matter to the police.
During proceedings, defense lawyer Richard Adams stated that Edgar was remorseful and wished to apologise, emphasizing that he would not commit such acts again.
