WALTER PIGGOTT SENTENCED IN BIRCHINGTON AND LANE END FOR INDECENT ASSAULTS
In a recent court ruling, Walter Piggott, a 54-year-old man with a troubling history, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after being convicted of two counts of indecent assault. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the offenses, which have left a lasting impact on the victim.According to court records, Piggott, who was at the time of the offenses residing in Lane End, was found guilty of assaulting a young girl who was only 13 years old. The incidents took place at an unspecified location, but the court heard that on one occasion, Piggott forcibly pushed the girl onto a mattress inside a house where he was squatting. During this assault, he kissed her neck and inappropriately touched her breasts and bottom, actions that caused significant emotional and psychological harm to the young victim.
Despite his conviction, Piggott maintained his innocence, denying the charges throughout the proceedings. His defense attorney, Martin Lahisse, argued that the time Piggott spent in custody following his arrest had a profoundly traumatic effect on him, though this did little to sway the court's decision.
Piggott, who was previously known to reside on Lines Road in Lane End, has since relocated to Birchington, Kent. The sentencing took place at Luton Crown Court on a Monday, following a conviction at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 11. The court emphasized the severity of the crimes, noting that the offenses inflicted incalculable harm on the young girl.
As part of his sentence, Piggott was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure intended to protect the community and prevent further offenses. The court's decision underscores the serious nature of sexual offenses against minors and the ongoing efforts to hold offenders accountable.
