PHIL PITTOCK FROM BIRCHINGTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN KENT
In a serious case brought before Canterbury Crown Court, Phil Pittock, a youth sports worker from Birchington, has admitted to possessing a significant collection of indecent images of children. The charges against Pittock, aged 50, include the possession and creation of over a thousand such images, spanning various levels of severity as defined by law.Phil Pittock, who resides on Brandon Way in Birchington, appeared in court to face seven charges related to the possession and making of indecent photographs and videos of minors. His role in the community included serving as the Thanet Schools Games organiser, a position he held at Ursuline College starting in 2011. Additionally, he has been involved in local education as a governor at Birchington Primary School.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between October 1, 2010, and January 15, 2013. During this period, Pittock is accused of collecting and creating numerous indecent images of children. The most serious of these charges involve the possession of 1,266 images at various levels of explicitness, including those depicting sexual activity between children, as well as images involving adults and children.
Specifically, on January 15, 2013, Pittock admitted to possessing 19 images classified as level one, which law describes as “erotic posing with no sexual activity.” On the same day, he also acknowledged possessing two images at level four, indicating “sexual activity involving a child or children, or both children and adults.”
Furthermore, on that date, he admitted to possessing a total of 1,266 images at levels one, two, and three, which include sexual activity between children and between adults and children, respectively. He also confessed to possessing eight video clips containing indecent images of children at levels one and two, as well as one video clip at level four.
In addition to possession, Pittock is accused of making an indecent photograph of a child at level three during the same period, which law considers a “making” offence, encompassing downloading and printing images. He also admitted to possessing eight photographs at level four.
Phil Pittock’s involvement in these offences has raised significant concern given his roles within the community, including his long-standing chairmanship of the Thanet Athletics Club since 2010. The court has scheduled his sentencing for September 23 at Canterbury Crown Court, where the full extent of his actions will be considered and appropriate penalties determined.
