2011: KIDDERMINSTER MAN JAILED AFTER STAMPING ON WOMAN'S FACE
A 43-year-old Kidderminster man who attacked the mother of his four children and stamped on her face has been jailed for 28 months.Vincent Perkins, of Shorthill Caravan Park, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and to witness intimidation.
Gareth Walters, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court Perkins had separated from his partner but they had stayed in touch and he carried on seeing the children.
The week before Christmas last year, she told him she did not want to see him again.
On New Year's Eve, he visited her after he had been drinking.
They went outside and he grabbed her, swung her round and punched her in the face, knocking her to the floor.
He then stamped on her face, leaving her with swelling and bruising before she managed to crawl away inside and shut the door.
Perkins was arrested and while he was on bail, he sent her text messages repeatedly, telling her he would leave her alone if she dropped the charges.
Antoine Muller, defending, said Perkins had taken the break-up of his relationship badly.
He said they had first got together when she had a young baby and he had treated the child as his own, alongside the four they then had together.
He said any threats in the text messages had not been backed up by violence.
Perkins, he said, was a qualified groundworker and plant operative and had been offered a fresh start with a job in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The court heard Perkins had previous convictions for violent offences and dishonesty.
Judge Alistair McCreath issued a restraining order and ordered any future contact with the children to be arranged through a solicitor.
Perkins is not allowed to go near his partner or her home or, at certain times, his children's school.
He told Perkins the attack was "absolutely unjustified" and carried out against a woman who was smaller and weaker than himself.
He jailed Perkins for 14 months on each charge to run consecutively, minus the 111 days he has spent in custody on remand.
