VINCENT CLARKE SEXUALLY ASSAULTING YOUNG GIRL WHILE SHE SLEPT AND THEN BLAMED HIS AUTISM!
On July 18th, 2023, Lucie, a young woman, was subjected to sexual assault while asleep by Vincent (Vinny) Clarke, a person she knew and trusted.Following the assault, Clarke continued to intimidate her through harassment, leading Lucie to report the incident to the police.
The officer leading her case showed compassion, understanding, and promises to seek justice.
After 18 months of legal proceedings, Lucie’s efforts culminated in a successful outcome.
During the investigation, Clarke denied the allegations repeatedly, offering lame excuses such as an autism diagnosis, alleged memory loss, or drunkenness to avoid conviction.
The trial was arranged in Liverpool Crown Court at one point, but Clarke suddenly claimed to remember everything the day before the trial, changing his plea to guilty.
In sentencing today, Clarke received a suspended prison sentence of 10 months, a ten-year addition to the sex offenders register, a five-year harassment restriction, 150 hours of community service, and participation in a 20-day sexual offender rehabilitation program.
Lucie’s mother expressed immense pride in her daughter’s strength and resilience amid this traumatic ordeal, especially for standing bravely in court.
She also highlighted that many victims of sexual crimes face underreporting, disbelief, or lack of justice.
She feels grateful that Lucie’s case resulted in a conviction, setting an important example of the importance of standing up for victims and achieving justice in such cases.
