MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

At Liverpool Crown Court, 26-year-old Aaron Ward of Gamble Avenue was given a prison sentence of 10 years, complemented by a one-year extended term.

He was also issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be subject to registration as a sex offender.

The charges against Ward involved historic sexual offences against a young girl, committed during his late teens and spanning several years.

Following a police investigation, Ward pleaded guilty to three charges of Assault by Touching and Causing or Inciting a Child to Engage in Sexual Activity.

Nonetheless, he was convicted after trial for more serious offences, including Rape of a Child and Assault by Penetration.
