TYRONE BEVAN FROM FLINT JAILED FOR BREACHING POLICE ORDER IN NORTH WALES
In January 2019, Tyrone Bevan, a 28-year-old man from Flint, was sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of breaching a police order related to his status as a convicted sex offender. The case was heard at Caernarfon Crown Court, where it was revealed that Bevan had failed to comply with a court-mandated notification requirement.Bevan, who resided at Castle Park Industrial Estate in Flint, had previously stayed with a woman in Dolgellau. It was during this period that he met a mother through the popular online dating platform Plenty of Fish. Unbeknownst to her, Bevan did not disclose his criminal history, which included a conviction for sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. This conviction dated back to 2011, and since then, he had changed his surname from Sears in an effort to conceal his identity.
The court heard that this was Bevan’s fifth violation of a court order requiring him to inform police of his whereabouts as a sex offender. Despite multiple warnings and legal obligations, he failed to notify authorities of his current residence or any changes in his living arrangements. Prosecutor Ryan Rothwell emphasized the seriousness of these breaches, highlighting the importance of compliance for public safety.
Judge Huw Rees addressed Bevan directly during the sentencing, stating, “It would have been quite simple to follow the advice and simply tell the police where you were.” The judge’s comments underscored the defendant’s disregard for legal obligations and the potential risks posed by his failure to comply. Ultimately, Bevan was sentenced to nine months in prison for his repeated breaches, serving as a reminder of the importance of adhering to court orders designed to protect the community from known offenders.
