HIGHWORTH MAN AVOIDS PRISON AFTER SENDING NUDE PHOTOS TO DECOY AS 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A 64-year-old man named Timothy Trille, residing in Grove Hill, Highworth, has been convicted of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child after he pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates' Court on April 30.He appeared at Swindon Crown Court for sentencing on July 17.
Court proceedings revealed that Trille had messaged a decoy account posing as a 13-year-old girl called ‘Olivia’, which was set up by a paedophile hunters’ group, between April 24 and April 29.
The decoy account explained that she was 13 years old to test whether he would continue messaging.
Trille used the name 'bad dad' on the platform, initiated a conversation, and asked to video call ‘Olivia’.
When she refused, he questioned her about being a time-waster, but persisted, asking for a silent video call.
He called her ‘stunning’ and said she had beautiful eyes, later sending a nude picture of himself.
He continued messaging, asking about her sexual experiences, trying to persuade her to send nude photos, and expressed having ‘naughty thoughts’.
Despite knowing her real age, he lied that she was 18, and when she confirmed she was 13, he still sent explicit images.
Police arrested Trille, and during police interviews he claimed he believed the decoy was an 18-year-old role-playing as a 13-year-old and that he used the platform due to erectile dysfunction.
His defense argued he was of unblemished character, works with disabled adults, and that his messaging began as a fantasy.
The court acknowledged that while the offense could have caused significant harm, no one was harmed during the incident.
The judge emphasized that such offenses usually result in immediate prison sentences but acknowledged Trille’s previous good character and efforts to seek help through the helpline Stop It Now.
Trille was sentenced to a 24-month community order, including 100 hours of unpaid work and up to 40 days of rehabilitation activities.
He is to be on the sex offender register for five years and subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, with the judge noting that Trille posed a low risk of re-offending.
