MAN WHO SENT SEX TOY TO EX BACK IN COURT FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
A man who previously harassed his ex-partner by sending her offensive messages and a sex toy has been sentenced for several sexual offences against children.Samuel Moss, 25, of Windrush in Highworth, pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, two counts of engaging in sexual communications with a child and two counts of causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.
The earliest offences were committed between May 25, 2018 and January 29, 2023, when Moss made three Category A images of a child, five Category B images and two moving images and 32 Category C images of a child.
Moss engaged in sexual communication with a person he did not reasonably believe to be 16 or over on January 29, 2023 and sexual communication with a child aged 13.
He also caused a child aged 13 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity and a child aged 13-15 years to look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity.
On January 29, 2023, Moss distributed three indecent Category B images and three Category C images of a child.
He was handed a total custodial period of two years, suspended for two years and must complete 26 days of an accredited programme, up to 15 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service and 225 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
A sexual harm prevention order was imposed, and the 25-year-old will be on the sex offender register for 10 years.
Moss had previously appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 2, after pleading guilty to one count of harassment without violence relating to incidents between August 23 and October 1, 2024.
He started receiving messages from his ex-partner, including a card with insulting messages and a sex toy labelled "from your secret admirer," after she announced her engagement in August 2024.
He also sent emails questioning the authenticity of their relationship and later sent follow-ups apologizing and citing mental health issues.
Moss, with no prior convictions before this court appearance in April, received a community order that includes rehabilitation activity days, a £300 fine, £85 in court costs, and £114 for victim services.
The relationship lasted over three years before breaking up in August 2023, after which Moss harassed her with messages and gift items.
