TIMOTHY FULLER SENTENCED IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In July 2014, Timothy Fuller, a resident of Sandwich Road in Tunbridge Wells, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of engaging in sexual activities with a 15-year-old girl he had met through Facebook. The case highlighted a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior and harassment that Fuller had exhibited over a period of time.

According to court proceedings at Maidstone Crown Court, Fuller, who was 29 years old at the time he initiated contact, began communicating with the teenage girl via Facebook. As their online interactions grew more flirtatious, the two eventually arranged to meet in person. The prosecutor, Charlotte Newell, detailed that this was the girl’s first serious sexual relationship, with intercourse occurring on multiple occasions until she decided to end the relationship in 2012.

Fuller, now 30, was found to have a long history of harassing former girlfriends. His reaction to the breakup was aggressive and invasive. Following the end of their relationship, Fuller launched a campaign of relentless harassment against her. He bombarded her with numerous calls and text messages, and even followed her in person, causing her significant distress.

Further evidence revealed that Fuller had created fake Facebook and Hotmail accounts under the girl’s name, attempting to manipulate her and spread false or lewd content. The girl also changed her phone number, but Fuller managed to obtain her new contact details. In a malicious act, he posted a doctored photograph of her on Facebook, accompanied by threats and a speech bubble containing lewd language. Fuller also engaged in Facebook chat with her, pretending to be a man named Mark Anthony, employing emotional blackmail to exert control over her.

Throughout the court proceedings, Fuller was described by Judge Philip Statman as “devious and conniving,” highlighting his manipulative tactics to get his way. His behavior extended beyond online harassment; he followed the girl in person and publicly insulted her in front of her friends. These actions prompted the girl’s family and friends to report his conduct to the police, leading to his arrest.

In 2010 and 2012, Fuller had previously been subject to supervision orders and restraining orders due to harassment of an ex-girlfriend and a friend. However, the latest incident marked an escalation in his pattern of abusive behavior. Judge Statman emphasized the severity of Fuller’s actions, stating, “All these threats were made to a 15-year-old girl who just wanted to get away from you and lead a normal life. The consequences indicate to me that your behavior towards her has had a considerable impact.”

The judge also noted Fuller’s controlling tendencies in his relationships, which appeared to be a recurring trait. To protect the victim and other vulnerable individuals, the court imposed a sexual offences prevention order, which will restrict Fuller’s activities and associations. His name will be entered onto the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, and he is permanently barred from working with children, ensuring additional safeguards against future harm.
