FORMER CHARITY WORKER TIM DARCH JAILED FOR 22 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
Tim Darch, a former RAF member, was a predator who exploited his position within a charity to sexually abuse multiple victims over many years. He was employed as a support worker at the Swindon Gay Men’s Health Project, a now-defunct charity supporting the gay and bisexual community.
Richard Hall, one of his victims, recounts that Darch began grooming him when he was 14, using his trusted role to establish a manipulative relationship.
Darch would facilitate environments where abuse occurred, including evenings at nightclubs and private settings, and eventually sexually assaulted Hall after gaining his trust.
Hall describes how Darch would be perceived initially as trustworthy, but his true nature was revealed through years of trauma.
Darch was convicted of four counts of indecent assault and four counts of rape against three boys under 16 years old, leading to a 22-year prison sentence, of which he is required to serve two-thirds.
Despite the conviction, Hall remains haunted by the abuse and the justice process, feeling that Darch still holds power over him.
Hall reports that Darch had previously downloaded and produced child pornography, which led to his registration on the Sex Offenders Register, but he had managed to change his name and integrate into local community life, hiding his past.
Hall has identified other victims and expresses concern over how abusers like Darch manipulate perceptions to hide their true nature, highlighting the ongoing danger posed by such offenders.
Darch’s offenses have had long-lasting effects on his victims, many of whom are still suffering the psychological scars.
The article emphasizes the importance of vigilance and the need for thorough safeguarding practices to prevent similar abuses in the future.
