TIBERIU FEKETE SENTENCED IN EAST HAM FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VIOLENCE AGAINST TEENAGER
In a disturbing incident that took place in East Ham, a 37-year-old man named Tiberiu Fekete was sentenced to nine months in prison following a brutal assault on a 14-year-old girl. The assault occurred on January 5 of this year, within the confines of a flat located on High Street South, East Ham. The court heard that Fekete's actions were both violent and malicious, involving physical assault and an attempt to intimidate the young victim.According to court proceedings, Fekete initially engaged in a sustained attack that included hitting, choking, and forcibly tearing at the girl’s clothing. The court was told that he claimed his violence was a form of punishment for her perceived misbehavior. During the assault, he also ripped off her top in an effort to prevent her from leaving his flat. The girl, whose identity remains protected due to her age, was subjected to a terrifying ordeal that left her physically injured and emotionally distressed.
Fekete’s brutality did not end with the assault. He proceeded to drag the girl around by her feet and snatched her mobile phone, effectively trapping her inside the flat. To make matters worse, he then locked the doors, preventing her from escaping. During this ordeal, Fekete paused to drink from a bottle of alcohol, displaying a reckless disregard for her safety. The situation escalated further when he grabbed a pair of scissors and issued a menacing threat, saying, “I will kill you – I don’t care if I get five or ten years. You will die.”
The young girl managed to call the police the following day after being held captive overnight. She was subsequently taken to a hospital, where medical examinations revealed she had sustained a broken left index finger and multiple bruises across her arms, legs, left ear, back, and head. The injuries underscored the severity of the assault and the physical harm inflicted upon her.
Fekete was arrested at the scene. Initially, he denied any wrongdoing, claiming that nothing had happened. However, he later admitted to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. During sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Judge John Lafferty condemned his actions, stating, “You maintained a sustained attack on the victim, striking her on a number of occasions, even when she was on the floor. You frightened her, she was left with extensive bruising and her ring finger was fractured.”
Fekete’s defense lawyer, Tim Green, expressed remorse on his client’s behalf, noting that Fekete had been evicted from his home following his arrest and was under significant stress due to financial difficulties. Despite this, the court emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the impact on the young victim, ultimately sentencing Fekete to nine months in prison for his violent and threatening conduct in East Ham.
