BORDERS MAN POSSESSED AND DISTRIBUTED INDECENT IMAGES
Background reports have been requested concerning Thomas Walker, a 42-year-old man from Borders, who admitted to possessing and sharing indecent images and videos of children.Walker pleaded guilty to these charges, which took place at his residence in Summerfield between August 2019 and August 2020.
In July 2020, a child abuse prevention team received information suggesting he might possess such material.
Authorities carried out a search warrant, during which they seized a laptop and his mobile phone.
Walker confessed to using the messaging app Kik to view and distribute images of children aged 8 to 15.
Investigations revealed he had 138 images and videos classified as Category A, 76 as Category B, and 73 as Category C.
He shared 101 images and videos, including 43 Category A images.
His devices showed a particular interest in young boys and girls, with 37 indecent images found, 10 of which were Category A.
Overall, 324 indecent images and videos were recovered.
The sheriff postponed sentencing until July 26 to allow for a social work report and assessment.
Walker will now be subject to the notification obligations under the Sexual Offences Act.
The mobile phone and laptop were confiscated and forfeited.
