THETFORD MAN FACES JAIL OVER VIOLENTLY SHAKING BABY
A man has been cautioned that he could face imprisonment after admitting to violently shaking a baby.During proceedings at Norwich Magistrates Court, it was revealed that the infant boy had been shaken so hard that he collapsed and required resuscitation.
Sweeden, from Kingsway in Thetford, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm without intent.
The charge related to an incident that took place in Thetford in February 2023.
He is scheduled to be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court during the week of June 22.
He was granted unconditional bail but was instructed to cooperate with the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report.
District Judge Matthew Bone informed him: “There is a real prospect of immediate custody of over 12 months.” He also stated: “This case is too serious to be dealt with at this court.”
