THOMAS REES FROM MAESTEG SENTENCED FOR HISTORICAL SEXUAL ABUSE IN SUSSEX

Thomas Rees, a 77-year-old former detective with Sussex Police, has been handed a prison sentence of two and a half years after being found guilty of committing serious sexual offenses against an 11-year-old girl during the 1970s. The conviction has brought to light disturbing details of abuse that occurred decades ago, highlighting the long-lasting impact of such crimes.

Rees, who is known to have resided in Maesteg, was brought to justice following a thorough investigation that uncovered evidence of his misconduct from the period when he was serving as a police officer. Despite his age and the passage of time, the court emphasized that the severity of the offenses could not be overlooked.
