LIVERPOOL MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS ATTACK ON GIRLFRIEND CAPTURED ON DOORBELL CAMERA
A man who unleashed a violent attack on his girlfriend that was captured on a doorbell camera has been jailed.Thomas Jennings, 30, assaulted his partner in broad daylight on Harbreck Grove in Aintree, Liverpool, around 11.15 am on March 31.
Ring doorbell footage showed him repeatedly hitting his partner Paula Richardson about the face with no hesitation before dragging her to the ground.
He then viciously kicked her in the head, knocking her unconscious and causing a broken jaw and eye socket.
The victim was taken to Aintree Hospital with facial injuries, and the assault resulted in a public outcry after footage circulated widely on social media.
Jennings left her lying motionless and threatened to burn down a stranger's house as he walked away from the scene.
At Liverpool Crown Court on August 14, Jennings pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Prosecutor Ken Grant described the incident, stating Jennings, of no fixed address but from Walton, was seen on camera attacking his then-girlfriend, Paula Richardson, with a history of 36 previous convictions for 64 offences including drug possession, domestic assault, and firearms offences.
Defense lawyer Julian Nutter argued Jennings suffers from mental health issues and has shown remorse for the first time, asking for understanding in his rehabilitation.
The judge called the attack "chilling" and "cowardly" and sentenced Jennings to four years in prison with an extended three-year license period.
