THOMAS GREEN FROM GREAT LEVER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN BOLTON
In a case that has shocked the local community, Thomas Green, a 74-year-old resident of Sandham Walk in Great Lever, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offenses involving a young girl. The incidents took place over a span of several years, specifically between 2008 and 2011, during which Green repeatedly assaulted the girl, who is now 13 years old.Green appeared before Bolton Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault and two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. His guilty plea came at an earlier hearing, and today, he was handed a custodial sentence of three years and four months. Additionally, the court mandated that Green must sign the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities following his release.
Furthermore, Green was issued with a lifelong sexual offenders prevention order, which imposes strict conditions aimed at preventing any further offenses and protecting the community. The court's decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses.
Detective Constable Lee Gridley, from the Public Protection Investigation Unit in Bolton, commented on the case, stating, “Green abused the trust his victim showed in him and has caused her a lot of misery in her young life. Thankfully, she showed the courage to come forward and help us put Green where he belongs; behind bars.”
