PAMELA MATTINSON'S HORRIFIC CRUELTY IN GREAT LEVER: KITTEN ATTACK WITH BRICK AND WHEELIE BIN
In a disturbing incident that shocked the community of Great Lever, Pamela Mattinson was caught on camera attempting to kill her own kitten in a brutal act of cruelty. The incident took place on Alston Street, where a vigilant neighbor witnessed the horrifying scene and documented it, leading to her arrest and subsequent court proceedings. On March 2 of this year, the neighbor, who wishes to remain anonymous, noticed unusual activity in his back garden. He heard loud banging sounds and, upon looking out of his window, saw Mattinson in his yard. The footage he recorded shows her picking up a brick and hurling it into a wheelie bin four times, with the apparent intent to harm the small animal inside.
According to the prosecutor, Edmund Potts, during the hearing at Bolton Crown Court, the neighbor recounted his experience. He stated, “[The neighbor] was at home when he heard a banging. He went to the window and he saw Ms. Mattinson in his back garden. Ms. Mattinson was picking up a brick and throwing it into the wheelie bin.”
Mattinson, who was 48 years old at the time, fled the scene upon noticing her neighbor observing her actions. However, she later returned to retrieve her injured kitten, during which she threatened to throw something through his window. Her actions prompted immediate concern for the animal’s welfare.
Authorities intervened when she attempted to take the injured kitten to a veterinary clinic. The animal was subsequently treated for its injuries and managed to recover. Nonetheless, Mattinson faced charges of animal cruelty and public order offenses for her conduct.
During the court hearing, Judge Clarke delivered a stern sentence, sentencing Mattinson to eight months in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, she was ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities and complete 180 hours of unpaid community work. The judge emphasized the severity of her actions, stating, “In my role as a judge I have to deal, unfortunately, with a lot of cases where people are cruel or negligent to an animal. In this case, as depicted in the video, you were not cruel nor negligent to an animal. You were trying to kill the cat. The nature of the attack, as depicted in the video, was of a most despicable crime.”
Furthermore, as part of her sentence, Mattinson, of Alston Street, Great Lever, is prohibited from owning any animals for a period of ten years, reflecting the court’s condemnation of her actions and the need to protect future animals from harm.
