Thomas Daly Child Sexual Abuser in Pocklington

A solitary individual who was found with illicit images admitted to having an attraction to children, provided there is a “connection” involved.

Thomas Daly, aged 28, was caught for a second time possessing numerous photos and videos on his phone and computer.

He appeared before Hull Crown Court on Monday to be sentenced after previously admitting three counts of producing indecent images of minors.

The court was informed that in September 2020, Humberside Police received reports of indecent images being downloaded at an address in East Yorkshire.

Officers went to Daly’s residence in The Mile, Pocklington, and detained him.

A mobile device and a gaming console were confiscated.

Authorities discovered 209 images categorized as Grade A—the most severe classification—77 images as Grade B, and 568 images as Grade C.

Additionally, one Grade A video and two Grade C videos were also found.

During his police interview, Daly explained his reason for downloading such images: “I find the images of the girls cute and I wanted to be able to see them again.” When questioned about whether he has a sexual preference for children, he responded: “It depends if there is a connection.” Daly also has a prior conviction from 2017 and had just completed a community order when he reoffended.

Furthermore, he was found to be breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

In his defense, the court heard that Daly admitted guilt immediately.

He has been socially withdrawn, depressed, and anxious.

He works as an illustrator but was unemployed during the pandemic.

The court noted that this was his first prison sentence and that he fears the prospect of incarceration.

However, Judge Mark Bury showed little compassion for Daly and expressed serious concern about his sexual attraction to minors.

He stated: “There was one child you remembered being particularly attracted to and went hunting for her online.” “He even bought an app to share and receive similar images.

It’s clear you have a sexual interest in children.” “Two days after the police visit, you started viewing even more indecent images.” “Perhaps you do not fully understand how serious your actions are.” “Every image or video you download or watch depicts a child being abused.

Viewing these images only encourages the production of more.” “The fact is, you cannot control yourself.

You even completed a program intended to help you, but it clearly has not worked.” “The only appropriate sentence is imprisonment.” As a result, Daly was sentenced to 16 months in prison for possession of Category A material, 12 months for Category B, and eight months for Category C, all to run concurrently.

He will be on the sex offenders’ register for ten years, and the sexual harm prevention order will also be in place for a decade.
