THOMAS DALY POCKLINGTON PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR REPEATED OFFENSES INVOLVING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN HULL
In May 2021, Thomas Daly, a 28-year-old man from Pocklington, was brought before Hull Crown Court to face serious charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. The case revealed disturbing details about Daly’s ongoing attraction to minors and his continued access to illicit material despite previous convictions and court orders.Authorities had previously responded to reports concerning Daly’s activities, leading to a police raid at his residence located on The Mile in Pocklington. During this operation, officers seized a mobile phone and a gaming console, which were later found to contain a significant collection of illegal images and videos. The police investigation uncovered a total of 209 images classified as Category A, the most severe type of indecent images, along with 77 images in Category B and 568 images in Category C. Additionally, there was one Category A video and two videos classified as Category C.
In his police interview, Daly was candid about his motives for downloading such material. When questioned about why he collected these images, he stated, “I find the images of the girls cute and I wanted to be able to see them again.” His responses indicated a troubling attitude towards his attraction, as he also remarked, “It depends if there is a connection,” when asked if he had a sexual interest in children.
The court proceedings revealed that in September 2020, Humberside Police had received information indicating that indecent images of children were being downloaded at an address in East Yorkshire, which was linked to Daly. It was also disclosed that Daly had a prior conviction from 2017 related to similar offenses. At the time of the latest offenses, his community order had only recently expired. However, it was also noted that Daly was in breach of a sexual harm prevention order, which was meant to restrict his access to such material and prevent further offenses.
As a result of his actions, Daly was sentenced to a total of 16 months in prison for possession of Category A images, 12 months for Category B images, and eight months for Category C images. These sentences are to run concurrently. Furthermore, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, and the sexual harm prevention order imposed on him will also remain in effect for ten years, underscoring the seriousness of his violations and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
