MANCHESTER MAN TORTURED AND MURDERED: EX-WIFE AMONG TRIO JAILED FOR BRUTAL KILLING
The former wife of Thomas Campbell, a man who was tortured to death in his own home, is among three people convicted for their roles in his murder.In July 2022, Thomas Campbell was ambushed at his residence in Tameside and subsequently killed, as detailed by Bolton Crown Court.
Coleen Campbell, aged 38, was handed a 13-year prison sentence after being found guilty of manslaughter.
Reece Steven, aged 29, received a minimum term of 37 years, while Stephen Cleworth, also convicted of manslaughter, was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years.
All three defendants were also convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police reports indicated that on the night of July 2, 2022, Mr.
Campbell was ambushed on his doorstep by a group lying in wait.
He was forcibly dragged into his house, subjected to severe torture, suffering at least 61 injuries before passing away.
Further investigations revealed that the attack was carefully orchestrated, involving close acquaintances who tracked Mr.
Campbell’s movements using GPS devices and CCTV footage.
Ms.
Campbell reportedly believed the plan was solely to steal Mr.
Campbell’s Rolex watches, although the current location of those watches remains unknown.
Law enforcement officials emphasized the brutality of the assault, with Det Insp Mark Davis calling the attack 'despicable and incredibly violent,' highlighting the suffering endured by Mr.
Campbell.
While three individuals have been sentenced, authorities are still investigating other suspects and encourage the public to provide any relevant information to support ongoing inquiries.
Just days before this incident, Ms.
Campbell was recorded on CCTV brandishing a hammer and participating in a brutal attack against another woman, whom she believed to be involved with her partner.
