MAN JAILED FOR EIGHT YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN MOSSLEY
A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of several sexual offenses against a woman in Mossley.Ajmal Afuq, who is 45 years old, was convicted on charges including one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault after a trial that lasted one week.
His sentencing took place on Thursday, August 19, with the prison terms for each charge to be served simultaneously.
Specifically, Afuq received eight years for the rape, two and a half years for sexual assault, and an additional 12 months for another sexual assault.
These crimes were committed between December 2019 and May 2020 in Mossley, Tameside.
GMP’s CID detective, Philip Scargill, praised the victim for her bravery in reporting the incidents, saying, “I want to commend the woman who had the courage to come forward and report these shocking crimes.
