JOHN BELFIEDL'S BRUTAL MOSSLEY MURDER AND THREATS REVEALED IN COURT
John Belfield, a 31-year-old man from Mossley, has found himself at the center of a disturbing criminal case that has shocked the local community and drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities. The court proceedings have unveiled a series of alarming allegations, including threats, conspiracy, and a gruesome murder that took place in Mossley, Greater Manchester.According to court reports, Belfield is accused of threatening his former partner, Demi-Lee Driver, in a series of menacing messages. Witnesses and prosecutors revealed that Belfield called Ms Driver a "money grabbing little dog" in these messages, which were heard during the court hearings. The threats appeared to stem from Belfield’s jealousy after Ms Driver began a new relationship with Thomas Campbell. The situation escalated dramatically in July 2022, when Belfield allegedly orchestrated the brutal murder of Mr Campbell.
Details of the crime are particularly disturbing. Mr Campbell’s body was discovered inside his own residence in Mossley, a town in Greater Manchester. The victim was found bound with extra-strength duct tape and dressed only in socks, indicating a violent and possibly prolonged attack. Prosecutors have described the scene as one of extreme violence, with Mr Campbell suffering more than 61 injuries. The evidence suggests that he was subjected to torture before his death, with the injuries pointing to a calculated and savage assault.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution presented compelling evidence of Belfield’s involvement in the events leading up to the murder. Threatening messages sent to Ms Driver included one where Belfield warned: "You and that helmet will get domed. Shut your mouth you dog." Another message read: "There’s not a thing you or him will do so. I think you should get my draws out your house Monday." These messages underscore the hostility and intent behind Belfield’s actions.
Further evidence revealed that Belfield had plans to target Ms Driver’s new boyfriend, Thomas Campbell, with the aim of stealing drugs. He admitted to conducting reconnaissance at Mr Campbell’s home prior to the attack, indicating premeditation. Belfield also confessed to helping disguise the van used in the murder, claiming he did so to "help my friends." Fearing retaliation from Mr Campbell’s associates, Belfield fled to Suriname, a South American country, shortly after the crime.
Law enforcement officials have indicated that Belfield was involved in detailed planning with others, including individuals close to Mr Campbell, to track his movements and carry out the attack. Despite these allegations, Belfield has maintained his innocence throughout the court proceedings. He denies conspiracy and murder charges, claiming that he was at his sister’s house when the killing took place. After being extradited back from South America, Belfield now faces trial in the UK, with the case ongoing.
Prosecutors argue that Belfield was the "driving force" behind the murder, which was carried out with careful planning and close involvement from others. Notably, Belfield’s former wife, Coleen Campbell, was later convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to rob in connection with the case. The court continues to examine the evidence, and the community awaits further developments in this disturbing and complex criminal case.
