MAIDSTONE PAEDOPHILE TERRY OCKWELL REPEATEDLY MEETS VICTIM NEAR MCDONALD'S IN MAIDSTONE AND MONCHELSEA
In a disturbing series of events, the mother of a teenage girl has issued a heartfelt plea for stricter controls on convicted sex offenders after her daughter encountered her abuser, Terry Ockwell, for the second time within a span of just 18 months in the town of Maidstone.Ockwell, who resides on Firmin Avenue in the nearby village of Boughton Monchelsea, was sentenced to two years in prison in May 2010 for the sexual assault of a young girl and for possessing indecent images of children. Despite the severity of his crimes, he was released after serving only one year of his sentence, raising concerns about the adequacy of the parole and monitoring systems.
The most recent unsettling encounter took place near the McDonald's restaurant located on Week Street in Maidstone. The young girl’s mother, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, expressed her distress and frustration over the situation. She stated, "I don’t feel he should be in Maidstone, a couple of miles away from our address. It is no hardship for him to move away from the area." Her words reflect her belief that Ockwell should not be allowed to remain in close proximity to her family or the community.
She described her feelings about Ockwell as being nothing short of horror, calling him "a monster, an absolute monster." Her primary concern is the safety of other families in the area, and she emphasized her desire for more stringent restrictions to prevent such encounters from happening again. The mother also revealed that her daughter is still in shock following these repeated confrontations, which have understandably caused her significant emotional distress.
Ockwell’s release from prison occurred in May 2011. Less than a year later, in December, the girl unexpectedly came face to face with him again, this time at a Morrisons supermarket on Sutton Road. The mother expressed her disappointment and confusion, stating that she believed Ockwell would be subject to restrictions that would prevent him from going out during weekends or in public spaces. "I had been letting my daughter go out because I thought she was safe but she could have bumped into him at any time," she explained.
Officials from Kent Probation have stated that they are unable to disclose specific details regarding any restrictions Ockwell may be under following his release, citing data protection laws. This lack of transparency has only added to the community’s anxiety and calls for greater oversight of convicted offenders in the area of Maidstone and Monchelsea.
