HERTFORDSHIRE MEN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WARE
Two men were jailed in connection with a sexual assault on a woman in Ware.Tayo Wisdom, 27, of Park Lane in Broxbourne, was sentenced to three years at Hendon Crown Court on Monday, July 11 after being found guilty at an earlier hearing of sexual assault.
He will also be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Bailey Collins, 24, of Vancouver Road in Broxbourne, was previously sentenced to eight months imprisonment on Thursday, June 16, having been found guilty of perverting the course of justice in relation to the case.
The incident occurred back in 2019 after the victim, who was in her late teens at the time, met the pair during a night out in Hertford.
Collins, who knew the victim, was staying at Wisdom’s address and invited her back to stay.
The victim fell asleep on the sofa and woke to find Wisdom, who she met for the first time that evening, sexually assaulting her.
She confronted him before leaving the property and got a taxi home, before reporting the incident to Hertfordshire Police later that day.
Wisdom was arrested on August 18 and, during the interview, he denied the allegations against him.
While Wisdom was in police custody, Collins voluntarily attended a police station and asked to give an alibi statement, which contained several pieces of false information.
Even once he was informed by Wisdom that the account was incorrect, Collins failed to tell police, after knowing he was impeding the investigation.
