BRAZILIAN STALKER CONTINUED TO PESTER TYNESIDE EX AFTER BEING DEPORTED TO SOUTH AMERICA

A man from Brazil named Takayama Silva persisted in harassing his former partner and her family even after being deported to South America.

In February, Silva received a community order and was issued a restraining order following his actions of sending her hundreds of text messages, filming himself placing a gold rose at her doorstep, and lingering near her residence with flowers after their relationship ended.

Despite this conviction for stalking, Silva, who initially entered the UK on a tourist visa in 2021 and later applied unsuccessfully for asylum before being moved to an immigration detention centre at Gatwick, continued his attempts to contact the woman and her relatives from abroad.

By May, he had sneaked back into the UK, attempting to book a flight from Northern Ireland to Scotland.

His arrest took place at Belfast Airport.

The 28-year-old, who does not have a fixed address and has a previous conviction for a public order offence in Edinburgh last August, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry into the UK and three violations of a restraining order.

He was sentenced to 52 months in prison, with an indefinite restraining order in place and an automatic deportation order.

During the sentencing, Judge Sarah Mallett remarked that Silva re-entered the country immediately after being deported due to offences against the same victim and suggested his motive was to breach the restraining order.

Court documents revealed that on March 21, despite the restraining order meant to shield the woman, Silva sent her a letter from Gatwick postmarked correspondence, expressing a desire for a hug and lamenting his time in prison.

The victim described Silva’s contact as making her feel uncomfortable, and he was deported to Brazil the next day.

However, prosecutor Gurjot Kaur informed the court that Silva continued to violate the restraining order while in Brazil, sending Facebook messages to the woman’s sister and brother-in-law.

He expressed ongoing love and thoughts of her and attempted to demonstrate his feelings.

Further, Silva tried to keep tabs on the victim’s social media pages.

After being blocked, he created a new Instagram profile, posting images of them together during their brief relationship.

On May 19, he messaged her sister via Facebook, stating he had crossed the ocean, was in Dublin, and asked her to relay to the victim that he was close to her again.

The following day, he uploaded a photo on Instagram holding a gift bag labeled 'Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.' On May 21, Silva was caught at Belfast Airport attempting to fly to Inverness; he had no legal right to remain in the UK.

Following his arrest, Silva claimed he shouldn’t have contacted the victim but admitted he only wanted to speak to her because he loved her.

He said he was en route to Brussels but viewed this as his last chance to be together.

Defense lawyer Robin Patton stated that Silva is subject to automatic deportation, and noted that Silva had symbolically discarded a birthday card the victim had once given him, asserting that his interest in her was over.
