PRESTWICH MAN SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
The article reports that Suleman Memon, aged 20, of Windsor Road, Prestwich, was involved in the assault and rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The events occurred in late 2012 and early 2013.
Memon persuaded the girl to visit his home where he then raped her in a bedroom.
Subsequently, on January 23, 2013, Memon took the girl to a hotel where Hassan Ali, aged 22, of Burton Gardens, Brierfield, Nelson, raped her twice.
Memon admitted to the rape during court proceedings.
At Bolton Crown Court, Judge Peter Davies sentenced Ali to three years and six months in prison, ordered him to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely, and barred him from working with children.
Memon was sentenced to 21 months in a young offenders' institution because he was 17 at the time of the offense, with an additional curfew for 56 days upon release.
He must also sign the sex offenders' register for ten years.
The victim's mother expressed her dissatisfaction with the sentences, stating, 'It is just not strong enough.
They have changed my daughter's life forever' and emphasized the long-term impact the events had on her daughter's potential and mental well-being.
The mother also conveyed her concern that the offenders do not learn their lesson from the punishment, underlining the ongoing trauma caused by the assaults.
