MAN JAILED FOR TERRIFYING ASSAULT ON EX AFTER BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER
Sukhpal Singh, aged 45 and formerly residing on Oakbridge Road in Buckinghamshire, was convicted of serious domestic violence offenses.
He had previously been involved in a relationship with his ex-partner, with whom he has a daughter born in April 2022.
Despite a court-ordered restraining order that prohibited him from contacting her, Singh breached this order multiple times.
In August last year, after his release from custody in August 2023, he began messaging the woman on an unknown phone number and eventually was seen at her home in Essex, where he took her to a guest house in Sible Hedingham.
There, he subjected her to a terrifying ordeal, refusing her consent for intimacy, ranting about choking her, and physically restraining her for hours, including pinning her down and hitting her across the face with a pillow while squeezing her lungs, leaving her in fear of her life.
She managed to escape at dawn, running to the guesthouse owner for help, who called the police.
The woman later described ongoing nightmares, flashbacks, and fears that Singh may harm others or himself.
Singh was convicted of breaching a restraining order, causing actual bodily harm, and intentional suffocation.
The judge sentenced him to four years and ten months in prison, with an extended sentence that includes an additional year on licence.
