DERBY PUB MANAGER WHO RAPED YOUNG WOMAN JAILED FOR EIGHT YEARS
In a case that has shocked the local community, Sudesh Kumar, a resident of Allestree, was convicted of a heinous crime that took place in Derbyshire.The incident occurred in August 2018, but it was only recently that Kumar was brought to justice.
During a court hearing last week, Kumar was sentenced to a substantial prison term of eight years after being found guilty of raping a young woman in his van.

The events unfolded on an evening when Kumar was in the company of the victim, a woman in her twenties, along with friends.
They had been socializing at a pub located in Peartree, Derby, where they spent the evening drinking and enjoying each other's company.

At around 4 a.m., Kumar offered to give the woman a lift home, an offer she accepted.
However, the journey took a dark turn when, during the ride, Kumar exploited her vulnerable state and committed the assault.
The victim, who was under the influence and in a compromised position, was subjected to rape by Kumar.
The following morning, the woman awoke feeling uneasy and troubled about the events of the previous night.
Although her memory of the incident was not entirely clear, she confided her concerns to her mother.
Recognizing the seriousness of her worries, her mother promptly contacted the police to report the incident.
As part of the police investigation, a medical examination was conducted on the victim.
Forensic evidence was collected, including samples from a tampon she had attempted to discard, which played a crucial role in establishing Kumar’s involvement.
Despite his insistence on innocence, Kumar was convicted after a thorough trial.
The court sentenced him to eight years in prison and ordered that he be placed on the sexual offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his crime and the impact on the victim.
