STUART DORAN FROM GLENROTHES INVOLVED IN BRUTAL ASSAULT IN FIFE

In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Glenrothes and the wider Fife region, Stuart Doran, a former police officer, was found guilty of a violent assault against his former partner, Kirsten Grieve. The assault took place during a drunken gathering in Fife last November, and the details of the attack reveal a troubling pattern of violence and disregard for personal safety.

According to court reports, Doran, who was on sick leave at the time due to a shoulder injury, engaged in a brutal physical assault on Kirsten Grieve. The attack occurred in a private setting during a party, where Doran reportedly lost control. He forcibly grabbed Kirsten and managed to straddle her on a bed, initiating a series of violent acts. Witnesses described how he repeatedly punched her, inflicting multiple injuries on her head and body. The assault escalated further when Doran bit her on the face and other parts of her body, leaving her with visible bite marks. In a particularly alarming move, he placed his hand over her mouth and nose, causing her to gasp for air and struggle to breathe.

As a result of the assault, Kirsten sustained a total of 17 injuries, which underscored the severity of the violence inflicted upon her. The incident not only caused physical harm but also emotional trauma, highlighting the dangerous nature of Doran’s actions. Doran, aged 38, had previously served in the Fife Division of Police Scotland and was recognized for bravery during his service. However, he resigned from the force just one month prior to his court appearance, amid ongoing legal proceedings.

During the court hearing, Doran pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury and breaching a court order that prohibited him from contacting his victim. His breach of the bail conditions led to him being remanded in custody and spending 20 days in prison over the holiday season. The court subsequently sentenced him to a community payback order, which includes 200 hours of unpaid work, two years of supervised probation, and mandatory attendance at alcohol and mental health counseling sessions. These measures aim to address the underlying issues that contributed to his violent behavior.

Representing Doran, QC Shelagh McColl stated during sentencing that her client accepted full responsibility for his actions, although he claimed to have no recollection of the attack itself. Despite the serious nature of the case, Doran left the courtroom smiling alongside friends and family members, choosing not to comment publicly on the incident. The case has left many in Glenrothes and Fife questioning the circumstances that led to such a violent outburst from a former police officer, raising concerns about accountability and the impact of personal issues on professional conduct.
