BRUTAL BOYFRIEND JAILED FOR KILLING GIRLFRIEND IN PEMBROKESHIRE
Steven Williams, aged 31, was found guilty after a three-week trial at Swansea Crown Court for a severe assault on his partner, Joanna Hall, inside her flat in Tenby, Pembrokeshire. The court heard that Williams carried out a relentless stabbing attack, wounding her over 20 times, with the blades piercing her internal organs and resulting in a blood loss of approximately 30 to 40 percent.
Despite her critical injuries, Ms Hall was alert enough while in hospital to identify Williams to the police as her attacker.
The judge described Williams’ conduct as 'brutal, callous, and reprehensible,' though he stopped short of labeling it as 'sadistic.' Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 22 years before parole eligibility.
Throughout the proceedings, Williams maintained that an unidentified knifeman had entered the flat during his shopping trip for alcohol, and he suggested that an earlier argument was triggered when Ms Hall attempted to kiss him—something he did not mention until giving evidence.
The jury delivered a guilty verdict by a 10-2 majority, with Williams showing no visible reaction.
The case was notably marked by Joanna Hall’s bravery in describing her experience before she succumbed three weeks later.
Evidence also revealed that Williams told her he 'didn’t want to have to do this, but I’m going to have to kill you now.
I’m not going back to prison.' Following sentencing, detective Inspector Carl Roach expressed the hope that the sentence would enhance community safety and paid tribute to Joanna Hall’s family for their dignity during this difficult time.
