BLACKPOOL OFFENDER JAILED FOR CHRISTMAS EVE RAPE
A man identified as 38-year-old Steven Peter, also known as Hameed Saeko and Steve Adanemen Iyere, was convicted of raping an 18-year-old girl during a Christmas Eve assault in 2012 at a flat in Blackpool. The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was under attack after she and her friend had been socializing in a nightclub.
According to court reports, Peter pinned the girl down on a sofa and forcefully assaulted her while making the chilling remark, "My perfect white girl." Despite her protests and attempts to resist, he overpowered her.
The victim confided in her friend and mother afterward, and DNA evidence on her dress confirmed his involvement.
The court heard that Peter initially evaded justice, disappearing from Blackpool, but was eventually located and arrested in Bolton following a police social media campaign.
In court, he denied the charges but was found guilty of a single count of rape by a jury at Preston Crown Court.
He was sentenced to six years imprisonment and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Judge Robert Altham stated, "You forced yourself on her.
You uttered the words: 'My perfect white girl' and you overpowered her to the extent where she was left in a position where she had no choice but to lie there and simply take it.
No-one should ever underestimate the seriousness of the offence of rape." The police expressed satisfaction that justice was served and paid tribute to the victim's bravery throughout the ordeal and trial.
