OFFENDER STEVEN ALLEN CAUGHT SNEAKING INTO IRELAND UNDER FALSE NAME
The news reports that Steven John Allen, a man with a long history of breaching court orders aimed at protecting children, was stopped at Ferry port.
He falsely claimed he was going to see friends and used the alias Alexander Freeman.
Allen, who has 18 previous convictions for 37 offences, was arrested at Fishguard port on July 16 after providing a fake name and claiming he had lost his wallet.
Authorities later discovered he was attempting to travel to Ireland without a passport, as he is a UK citizen.
Allen refused to cooperate further when detained, refusing to reveal his PIN or answer questions.
He was sentenced to 32 months in prison and will serve up to half before being released on license.
A sexual harm prevention order remains in place until 2028, and the court viewed his attitude as unrehabilitative, sentencing him in his absence after he refused to leave his prison cell.
The judge remarked, 'You are an entrenched paedophile,' emphasizing his pattern of misconduct and breach of conditions since his previous convictions for indecent assault in 2000.
