STEVEN HENTSCHEL SENTENCED IN YEOVIL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 15-YEAR-OLD VICTIM
On Wednesday, May 21, Steven Hentschel was formally sentenced following his conviction for a sexual assault involving a minor in Yeovil.The incident, which took place several years ago, involved Hentschel making inappropriate comments and physical advances towards a 15-year-old girl.
During the proceedings at Taunton Crown Court, located within the North Somerset Courthouse, it was revealed that Hentschel had told the young victim she was beautiful before going further and kissing her on the lips.
This act of misconduct was part of the evidence presented during the trial earlier this year.
Hentschel, aged 54, entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
However, after the jury carefully examined the evidence, they found him guilty of one count but acquitted him of the second.
Following the verdict, Hentschel was released on bail pending his sentencing hearing.
In the sentencing, Hentschel received a four-month prison term, which was suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid community work and participate in a 20-day rehabilitation program.
As part of the court’s measures to protect the victim and prevent future offenses, Hentschel was also mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years.
Furthermore, a five-year restraining order was imposed, restricting his contact with the victim and possibly others involved in the case.
